Safe Shores – The DC Children’s Advocacy Center is committed to being a safe, helpful, and trustworthy resource, available to everyone who needs our services and support. Due to COVID-19, we are observing federal and local government public health protection guidelines. Upon arrival, visitors will complete a COVID-19 screening (questions and temperature check) and may be asked to wear a mask. If you have recently had COVID-19, you must wear a mask on the premises for the full 10 days from the date of exposure or infection, consistent with DC Health Department and CDC guidance.

Safe Shores’ #Pack2School Drive 2017!

Back to school time will be here before we know it and Safe Shores is gearing up for our annual Pack2School Drive to collect school supplies for children affected by abuse in DC. This year Safe Shores is trying something a little different to ensure that kids have all the supplies to start the school year off with the learning tools they need. Instead of collecting loose supply items, #Pack2School supporters have the choice to:

  •  Sponsor a backpack for a child! Sign up to sponsor a grade-appropriate backpack filled with school supplies for a child or a number of children. Each sponsor will receive a list based on DCPS’ school supply list to ensure grade-appropriate supplies for each child. More information about this option can be found on our information sheet.
  • Make a cash donation to support the drive. Donations will be used to purchase supplies for each child in need. Safe Shores estimates that each backpack filled with supplies costs about $100, but donations at any amount are encouraged and appreciated!

With your help, we can equip hundreds of DC kids with the supplies they need to start off the school year right! For any questions or inquiry about the drive, please contact Lauren Snell at givetoachild@safeshores.org. The #Pack2School Drive runs through July 28th.

 

#Pack2School Event on August 2nd!

Let’s get packing! Come out to help ready kids affected by abuse in DC to start the school year off right by assembling school supplies and packing backpacks donated through the #Pack2School drive. Pizza and refreshments will be provided. Kids are welcome to participate! RSVP here for the free event.
