Chloe is a Yorkshire Terrier puppy who found a new home with 9-year-old Samantha. After enduring physical abuse and the violent loss of her previous dog, Samantha found love, security and comfort from a warm and furry friend thanks to Safe Shores.
Let’s take a look at how this all came about:
Samantha and her mother came to Safe Shores after being brutally beaten by Samantha’s father. Samantha also endured the killing of her beloved dog in the devastating attack. After listening carefully to their story, the Safe Shores advocate assigned to their case proposed using Safe Shores’ Emergency Victims Crisis Fund to purchase a new puppy. Within weeks, Samantha received a puppy of the same breed and gender, as well as a basket full of brand-new pet supplies to help care for her fluffy companion.
Samantha’s new playmate has shown her unconditional love and support and renewed her hope as she and her mother rebuild their lives.
Every child victim of abuse has unique needs. At Safe Shores, we work thoughtfully to provide each child with a tailored response that honors who they are and what they need to begin healing.
